In May, 1997, the forty-three charter members of this chapter voted to accept the following as our chapter's vision statement:

"The PMI Champlain Valley Chapter will be recognized as a dynamic organization of Project Managers dedicated to serving the business and educational communities of the Champlain Valley Region of Vermont and New York through the advancement of Project Management."

Voting to accept this vision has provided our chapter with a common "window" from which we perceive the chapter in the future tense. It also begins to define the expectations of our stakeholders. The stakeholders include our membership of today, tomorrow and yesterday. It also includes the regional businesses and academic communities. After all, it is these organizations that provide our membership with employment and economic opportunities.

It is the chapter's belief that our first challenge as a chapter is to test our resolve of being "dedicated" to our business and academic communities, both for-profit and not-for-profit. This challenge requires our chapter to demonstrate our dedication to these communities of stakeholders "through the advancement of Project Management." Making our chapter vision a reality will require us to focus on the primary stakeholders who are not chapter members.
