Transformational Leadership: Women Lead the Way

A few "first women" are making key decisions in high places but a few is not enough to have a significant impact. Changing what gets decided takes changing who makes the decisions. But with just 17% of Congressional seats and 14% of Fortune 500 board seats held by women, the leaders defining priorities and solutions continue to look and act much the same as generations go.

Drawing on her extraordinarily diverse background as a consultant, organizer, and diplomat, Linda Tarr-Whelan offers a women-led strategy for change and a complete set of practical road-tested tools readers can use to become powerful partners in creating a better future in a rapidly changing world.

Closing the leadership gap is a win for everyone—it brings in new ideas, creates a more balanced and productive work environment, a revitalized social compact and demonstrable positive effects on the bottom line in business and government.

Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity

by David Mullin

Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity is a local Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.  Having started in Chittenden County in 1984, this year the Affiliate celebrates 30 years of building simple, decent and affordable housing in our community.  For 2014 they are working on 4 homes that will make 68 Habitat homes in Chittenden County since they began.  It is a community event that takes close to 400 volunteers and 10 months to build each house.  GMHFH receives no funding from the international organization, and so it must raise all its funds each year locally.  Habitat purchases the land and the materials and sells the homes to the families at cost and it is financed by Green Mountain Habitat at 0% interest.

Managing Teams for Innovation and Success

by Joe Kelly

Do you sometimes wonder if your team is effective? Maybe you feel that you have built a good team but would like to make them operate like a great team? This interactive team building workshop is aimed at making teams more productive, more enjoyable and more profitable. By appealing to people's interest in learning more about themselves we can help teams gain a broader appreciation about how they prefer to function and in turn learn about how their teammates prefer to operate. We can help teammates to become self-aware that people of various types and preferences exist and that by becoming more aware of these preferences it is possible to greatly improve the overall effectiveness of their team.
